The Thermosiphon Seal Support System is a passive, stand-alone fluid reservoir engineered to supply, cool, and monitor buffer or barrier fluids for dual (tandem or back-to-back) mechanical seals. By utilizing the natural law of thermal convection (thermosiphon effect), the system circulates fluid entirely pump-free. As friction heats the barrier fluid inside the pump's seal chamber, the hot liquid naturally rises up into the thermosiphon vessel. An internal cooling coil rapidly drops the fluid's temperature, causing the denser, cooled liquid to sink back down into the seal loop. This continuous loop extends mechanical seal life, protects the environment from hazardous vapors, and cuts water consumption.
Generally used in
Provides lubrication, dissipates heat, and maintains the required pressure gradient across seal faces in double back-to-back and tandem seal arrangements for pumps and agitators.
